Description

This bench seat repair kit will cover one bottom OR backrest area and includes one 1″or 2″ thick HR70 foam sheet and one burlap substrate. The foam sheet measures 24″ x 80″ and the burlap substrate is slightly larger. The burlap is meant to replace your seat’s worn out burlap. Place the burlap substrate between the seat springs and the high density foam.

Even though 2″ is offered  most applications will only require the 1″ foam. It is not recommended to use additional foam if your seat originally had a molded foam seat cushion. Adding foam to this type of seat will make the cover too tight to fit correctly.

Kit used to come with carpet substrate, as shown in video, but now comes with burlap.

Q Is 3 inch foam to thick to use on a1953 Ford f100 bench seat on the bottom half answer now

A I used this foam to restore an original bench seat in a 1959 Chevy truck. The original padding was completely shot. So I covered the springs (top and sides) with indoor/outdoor carpet, and then this foam on top. I cut it a little bigger than needed at first, and slipped the seat cover on to check the fit. I had to do a little trimming around the edges to avoid an unwanted bulges in the front or side. It came out beautiful (if I do say so myself) and the seat back folds up easily. And it is very comfortable.
A The seat covers we sell for those truck are meant to fit like the original. The original seats had very little padding, so we only recommend the 1" foam. Using thicker foam may make it difficult to get the cover on.

The kit is for one area, either the back or the base. Yes, if you want to do the back and the base you would need two of these kits.

A Unless your seat back is really destroyed, you really only need the foam for the seat. It is to be used on top of what padding your seat already has in order to smooth out the seat. If you add more cushion to the back, it will push you forward on the seat a bit.
    12. I have already ordered from you a upholstery kit (694088) for our 1983 Ford F150XL and it is now in the process of being made. I have found that the original foam appears in good condition. Even so, would you recommend a complete replacement of the foam with a 2" kit or maybe a 1" over the top of the old?

A I would use the 1 inch it will make the cover look much better and for the price you really can’t go wrong
Answered by the admin No. Adding foam over the original foam will make the cover too tight and difficult to put on.
