Description

Fluid Film is a penetrant and lubricant that can also be used for corrosion prevention. It is a non-toxic, long lasting liquid that has been used for over fifty years in the highly corrosive marine environment of ships and offshore drilling rigs.

Fluid Film is formulated from specially processed wool-wax, highly refined petroleum oils and selected agents to provide corrosion control, penetration, metal wetting and water displacement. It contains no solvents so it will not dry out. The thin, wet film that it leaves will penetrate to the base of all metals, providing corrosion protection from both natural and industrial atmospheres. Heavily corroded and/or frozen parts such as nuts, bolts, shafts, etc. that would normally be damaged during maintenance can be salvaged by applying Fluid Film.

Fluid Film rust preventer can be applied to just about any indoor or outdoor surface. In automotive applications, Fluid Film is commonly used around and inside of doors and throughout the undercarriage of the vehicle. Fluid Film should not be directly applied to any weatherstripping as, in time, it will cause the rubber to expand.

Made in the USA.

Fluid Film is the Exceptional Choice for Automotive Applications
The destructive force of corrosion is the single greatest threat to your vehicle. Consistent exposure to a wide range of elements such as sun, rain, wind and snow can lead to rapid deterioration of metal, not only resulting in poor appearance and loss of value, but hazardous safety issues as well. Road salt, brine and debris also kick up and cling to vehicle under-bodies, eating away at metal and electrical connections.

Fluid Film is manufactured using an intricate heating and blending process, which combines unrefined wool wax with selective polar agents and corrosion inhibitors, creating a unique, lanolin-based formulation that stops existing rust on contact. Penetrating on contact, it creates a fluid, self-healing barrier that is always active and will not chip or crack, protecting vehicle undercoating’s and exposed metals for extended periods of time. Safe for use on all metals, it will stop pitting in chrome, will not harm most paints or plastic, and has exceptional lubricating properties, penetrating to stop squeaks and provide lasting lubricity for all moving parts. Electrically non conductive, Fluid FIlm has a high flash point and a thin, flexible composition, making it a perfect protectant for battery terminals and electrical connections.

Care should be taken around non oil resistant rubber goods. May cause swelling. Fluid Film may soften some vehicle undercoatings. This includes undercoating type paints. Check with dealer/manufacturer for compatibility.

Fluid Film is non-conductive, so clean around battery terminals, make connections and then spray with Fluid Film. The non-drying characteristics of Fluid Film provide long-term protection in this application. Fluid Film also keeps battery hold downs from corroding. Unprotected terminals can lead to corrosion of the wiring harness, resulting in expensive repairs.

Fluid Film provides slick, lasting lubrication that could last up to 36 months in locks, or hinges and seat tracks under normal operating conditions. It also keeps locks from freezing, even in sub-zero temperatures. A small amount is all that is needed to keep locks buttery smooth. Great for fixing problem locks.

    Vehicle Undercoating

FLUID FILM® penetrates to the base metal, providing a lasting, protective barrier from the corrosive effects of salts, calcium and sodium chloride, pesticides and fertilizers. Offering an easy “no drip” application, FLUID FILM® offers a cheaper and more effective alternative to the standard hard-underbody coatings. Protecting undercoatings from metal deterioration, FLUID FILM® also remains soft and pliable, making it self-healing, non-drying, and impossible to crack. FLUID FILM® migrates to inaccessible areas, providing up to a full year of solid protection. A gallon of material should cover approximately one vehicle.

FLUID FILM® may soften some vehicle undercoatings. This includes undercoating type paints. Check with dealer/manufacturer for compatibility.

    FAQs

    Q. What makes Fluid Film different from its competitors?

    A. Where most products contain between seventy and ninety percent solvent, Fluid Film contains none except for its propellant, meaning long lasting lubrication and protection. With no solvent, Fluid Film won’t evaporate or become sticky or gummy, allowing it to migrate to other areas for lubrication or protection. With its unique lanolin base, Fluid Film will actually embed itself in the pores of metal, resisting wash off and keeping moisture and oxygen from getting to the base metal. Containing no solvent content, Fluid Film lends itself to numerous applications where the comparative solvent-based products would not even be considered

    Q. What effect does Fluid Film have on the environment?

    A. Fluid Film is classified as a non-toxic and non-hazardous liquid and contains less than one percent VOC content. Lower VOC content helps eliminate the use of ozone-depleting chemicals in the atmosphere. Fluid Film contains no solvents, phenols, heavy metals, arsenic, pcb’s, pc’s, tcdd’s or other dioxin related substances. It is manufactured using an all natural lanolin base.

    Q. Will Fluid Film harm paint?

    A. Not at all. Fluid Film can be applied directly to paint without harming it.

    Q. Will Fluid Film harm rubber or plastic?

    A. It has no adverse effect on plastic or synthetic rubber, but it may cause some swelling on natural rubber.

    Q. Will Fluid Film prevent existing rust from spreading?

    A. Yes, Fluid Film will stop it immediately from spreading further.

    Q. Will dirt build up on the surface after applying Fluid Film?

    A. Because it remains wet, you’ll see an initial light dusting, but because it doesn’t have any solvents it won’t become sticky and gum up or create a build-up of dirt.

    Q. Is Fluid Film biodegradable?

    A. No, it is not.

    Q. Will it keep locks from freezing during the winter?

    A. Yes, a light application is all that’s needed to provide long term lubrication for lock assemblies, even in freezing temperatures.

    Q. Can I use Fluid Film on guns and other firearms?

    A. Yes. Apply Fluid Film to a clean dry rag, rubbing into metal surface as would be done with a polish or a wax. It will not leave fingerprints or negatively affect bluing. The lanolin base of Fluid Film will also act as a conditioner on the wood stock. Fluid Film will hold up in extreme conditions.

    Q. Will Fluid Film dry out over time?

    A. No it will not dry out. Fluid Film is a lanolin based product containing no solvents. It will not evaporate or dry out. It will leave a wet, non-drying film, that will provide long term corrosion protection on all metals and superior lubrication for all moving parts

    Q. Does Fluid Film work on all types of metals?

    A. Fluid Film will protect all metals from oxidation and atmospheric corrosion, including steel, stainless steel, copper, lead, tin and zinc. It will stop chrome and brass from pitting and aluminum and magnesium from oxidizing.

    Q. My stainless steel has pitted areas that are corroding and cannot be passivated. Will Fluid Film help prevent additional corrosion?

    A. Yes, it will protect those pitted areas that from additional corrosion.
