Is the lower portion of the bed on your truck starting to bubble? If so, the rot is probably worse than you think. By the time you see bubbles, there’s usually a lot of rust built up behind it. This area rusts out on most trucks that are driven a lot. Salt and road debris are constantly thrown at them while driving, compromising both the exterior and underside of the bed. Any body panel taking this type of abuse from both sides is eventually going to break down and need to be replaced. The good news is that if you catch it in time, you can replace the lower bed sections instead of having to replace the entire box.
All of our truck bed repair panels are stamped steel. The stamping process starts with a 3D scan of an OEM part which produces an OEM-like fitment. The old panel will need to be cut out so that the new one can be welded in its place.
Each panel has a protective (EDP, Galvanized, etc.) coating for additional corrosion protection. The e-coating leaves a black finish that can be scuffed and painted over. For best finishing results we recommend scuffing the e-coat, priming, and then top coating with an automotive grade paint.

I order a replacement part for my lower bed section on a 2004 Ford F-150. The part looked decent but had a lot of defects in the finish that cost me time and money to smooth out in prep. I tried to return it and they through the book at me on how they don’t take returns or warranties for their work. Would not order again from these guys.

Mike, I looked at your order and the related email correspondence, including the pictures of your part. I did not see any defects in the part. I did see some minor scratches in the EDP coating. It sounds like our reps were trying to explain that we do our best to protect panels during shipping, but it’s not uncommon to receive parts with minor scratches in the EDP coating. The coating is meant to protect the panels from corrosion while in storage, and would normally be sanded down during panel installation.
