What to Consider When Choosing New Rocker Panels

Any vehicle repair should start with high-quality parts. Raybuck Auto Body Parts carries rocker panels that meet and exceed OEM specs. When you’re choosing new rocker panels, it’s important to consider factors such as:

  • Fitment: We offer rocker panels made using 3D scans of original parts.
  • Material: These rocker panels meet or exceed OEM part thickness with heavy-gauge stamped steel.
  • Model: Our parts catalog has rocker panels for Chevy/GMC Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Avalanche models.

The right fit means you’ll experience an easier installation and get a seamless look. Just pick the right year, make and model for your vehicle, and make sure you choose the correct side, whether passenger or driver. If you don’t know for sure which parts to purchase for your vehicle, contact our team for help.

Slip-On and Welded Rocker Panels

Our rocker panels come in two varieties with different attachment styles — slip-on and full-welded.

Slip-On Rocker Panels

A slip-on rocker panel is suitable if you have no welding equipment or experience, you only need to replace part of your rocker panels and you want an option with quicker prep. Cut any rusted areas of your current rocker panels off, and then cut the slip-on rocker to size and put it over the existing, non-rusted parts. Attach the rocker using rivets, screws or adhesives. The result won’t be as seamless as a full-welded option, but it will help with your vehicle’s longevity.

Full-Welded Rocker Panels

With this attachment option, you need to fully remove your current rocker panels with a grinder and cut-off discs before installation. Then, you’ll weld the new rocker panel on. The result is a clean, smooth finish that works well when your current rockers are very rusty and you need a complete replacement. If you have the tools, experience and time, fully welded rocker panels help your SUV or pickup hold its value, and this repair will typically last longer than slip-on panels.

If you are unsure which rocker panel style to choose, our team can help you make the right choice.
