If you’re looking to remove your 2009-2014 F-150’s interior door panels, you’ve come to the right place. Gather your tools and follow these tips for getting the job done right.
The Tools You’ll Need
Before you get started, you’ll want the following tools on hand:
- ¼” drive socket set
- Hook-type tool
- Small flathead screwdriver (optional)
How to Remove Your F-150’s Interior Door Panel
Let’s get started:
- To begin, locate the two 6mm screws at the bottom of the interior panel.
- Use your hook tool to open the plastic cover over the door screw. This screw is 8mm.
- Behind the door handle you’ll find another 8mm screw.
- Pull straight up (not out).
- Using your fingers, pop out the handle by pushing the two tabs. Feed it through the door.
- Unplug the harnesses and optionally pop out the switch panel for ease of removal.
To reinstall your interior door panel, follow this procedure in reverse.
Additional Tips
Make this project even easier by taking advantage of the following tips:
- It may be easier to line up the lock rod by removing the plastic insert or tube. After pushing up on the plastic tube beneath the door panel, you’ll be able to view the lock rod through an opening.
- The back doors require a similar procedure, but keep in mind there’s a third 6mm screw.
